A WORD FROM PETE

673a8e45-b518-4921-9dfb-ef6b6667c2e6.jpg

There's nothing better than jumping into a pool on a warm day or sliding into a hot spa on a cool night.  I love to see families having fun, enjoying time with mates, being active outdoors and having a laugh.  Seeing this continue for pool & spa owners around Victoria by assisting you through the process of achieving compliance with your local council, is my goal.

I want to help people as much as I can, so my
point of difference is that I make myself available prior to inspection & right throughout the process, by providing relevant advice tailored to your pool/spa area so that practical and cost effective solutions are achieved to best suit your budget and/or the aesthetics of the area.  I understand home ownership and people's preferences to keep the pool and/or spa area neat, tidy and looking good, which is why I excel at balancing this without compromising safety and compliance.  I have developed connections with quality, friendly and affordable tradespeople who are ready to help you with rectification work if required, in order to remove the hassle of chasing up various quotes.  Here's a little tip for you all - check your gate before I visit, as around 70% of gates don't self-close and self-latch from every position including 'resting on the latch'.

As a registered VBA Inspector and endorsed Master Pool Barrier Inspector with Master Pool Builders Association Australia, I'm passionate about keeping the backyard pools and spas of Victoria in action and safe for all ages.  Don't forget, I'm here to help!

DEADLINES FOR INSPECTION & LODGEMENT OF CERTIFICATE OF BARRIER COMPLIANCE

FOLLOW THESE 5 STEPS TO GET YOUR POOL OR SPA LEGALLY CERTIFIED WITH YOUR LOCAL COUNCIL

STEP 1:

REGISTER YOUR POOL OR SPA WITH YOUR COUNCIL
(You'll find links to pool compliance pages of local councils below)
All Victorian pools and spas were due to be registered by 1 November 2020.  This is different to having your pool inspected.  Head to your local council's website & send a request for your pool or spa details.  They will send you a letter containing your pool or spa’s construction date and the applicable Australian Standard / Building Regulation.

STEP 2:

BOOK AN INSPECTION with Pete's Pool Inspections to have a reliable, efficient expert deliver a same day report with specific photos containing details of any non-compliant items of your pool or spa safety barrier with rectification advice.  I'll also be able to connect you with the relevant local, trustworthy and professional trades to carry out the works if required.  For your Certificate of Compliance (Form 23) to be valid, the inspection MUST be conducted by a VBA Registered Inspector - allow me to help you through the process, hassle-free.
If your barrier is compliant upon inspection, skip straight to STEP 5.

STEP 3:

FIX ANY NON-COMPLIANT ITEMS detailed in your comprehensive report.  You'll be given 60 days to bring your barriers into full compliance, have it re-inspected & to submit your Form 23 Certificate of Compliance to council, hence why it can be a huge benefit to BOOK A CONSULT prior to booking an Inspection.  By booking a consult, you will then gain more time to rectify non-compliances and space out the expenses. Make  sure you have enough time before the Certificate of Compliance due date.

STEP 4:

BOOK PETE FOR A RE-INSPECTION of your safety barrier and if all barrier components are compliant, receive your Form 23 Certificate of Compliance.  If there are still remaining non-compliances, a Form 24 Certificate of Non-Compliance is lodged with your council and they will deal with it from there.  Councils can deliver fines of up to $1652, so it's best to do everything you can to have your safety barrier compliant by Re-Inspection date.

STEP 5:

SUBMIT YOUR FORM 23 TO COUNCIL.
(You'll find links to pool compliance pages of local councils below)
Send your Form 23 Certificate of Compliance to your local council office to fully comply with all legislation.
Your safety barrier will be due for it's next inspection in 4 years time.  I'll remind you 6 months prior to that due date & from there can book in for your next inspection.
